Coming along to the Great Yarmouth Racecourse Dino Family Fun Day? Here's everything you need to know:
Get ready for Great Yarmouth's August Bank Holiday extravaganza, as animatronic dinosaurs and a whole host of family entertainment roams across the racecourse. Looking for things to do Sunday 25th August? We've got you covered!
Tickets are still available, so if you're yet to get yours you can do so via our website. Booking in advance will save you money off the on-the-day gate price.
Entertainment
Following gates opening at 12:00, there will a wide variety of FREE*roaming entertainment throughout the day including:
- Dinosaur shows
- Roaming dinosaurs across the racecourse
- Fire safety team
- Punch & Judy shows
- Balloon entertainer
- Pay-as-you-go fun fair
*Please note the fun fair is the only entertainment on the day that will incur a small charge. The fun fair will accept cash and card.
Race Times
The current race schedule is as follows
14:15 Race 1
14:50 Race 2
15:25 Race 3
16:00 Race 4
16:35 Race 5
17:10 Race 6
18:00 Race 7
Fun Run
In between Race 3 and Race 4, there will also be a kids fun run at the 1/4 furlong market. Listen out for the PA announcements. Information on how to enter your child will be detailed in the racecard, available free to all racegoers on the day.
There will be two aged group races: Under 8s and Over 8s. Under 12s are welcome.
There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes for each race.
Travel Information
As with all our Family Racedays, we get extremely busy. if you are driving to the racecourse, we recommend arriving early to secure a parking spot. Parking is available on a first come first serve basis. If we require accessible parking, please speak to our steward on the day.
Where possible, we advise car sharing to reduce congestion in the area.
As it is a Bank Holiday, we highly recommend checking local bus and train times well in advance for any planned closures and limited services,
Weather
We are hoping to sun will stick around over the August Bank Holiday. We advise racegoers dress accordingly for the weather and in high temperatures, keep hydrated throughout the day.
Food and Drink
Picnics are permitted in our General Enclosure only. Please note, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are not permitted across all enclosures. Tap water is available in all bars across site.
We provide a wide variety of food and drink concessions including fish and chips, hog roast, sweet stalls and cocktails.
Security
We take security and safety very seriously. There will be a strong security presence and you will be subject to a bag search on arrival.
Please be patient and limit the bags you bring. Remember, no food or drink can be brought into the racecourse unless you are in the General Enclosure.
We ask all visitors not to leave bags unattended and to report anything suspicious to a member of staff.
Other Information
Tickets
For ease, we ask customers have their tickets ready on arrival to scan at the gates. We highly recommend booking tickets in advance to save time.
Payment
We are a largely cash-free site. All bars and eateries are card only.
Our Totes and Bookmarkers will accept cash and card.
The fun fair will accept cash and card.
There are no cash machines on site, so please consider this ahead of time.
Dogs
Except Assistance Dogs, dogs are not allowed to enter the racecourse. In the interests of animal welfare, no dogs are permitted to be left in cars and Great Yarmouth Racecourse politely request that all dogs are left at home.
